The Barbershop Duet

Thank you to everyone in the Wet Shaving Community who have truly welcomed us with open arms! It is beyond refreshing to meet people who are supportive and welcoming and truly care about their community. We had no idea what we were missing out on and honestly couldn’t be happier to have stumbled upon this whole new world. 

It has only been a week since we decided to fully commit to this fun side project and we are in awe of the response. Over the past few days we have had phone calls and messages with multiple artisans to get to know their companies along with longtime members of the wet shaving community and my goodness, what we thought would be a quick 10 minute call all turned into awesome conversations getting to know these amazing, truly honest people. 

It’s been crazy to realize how much for us as artists (both Marcus as a musician/singer/actor and I as a dancer/choreographer) can appreciate all the care and love that goes into artisan shave soaps. Each scent takes us to brilliant new places or long lost memories after opening them up. The layers of the scents and the process of how these soaps are made is all new to both of us but it has been fun learning SO much! 

Marcus and I have committed to ONLY opening the soaps we buy for the first time in front of the camera so you can all enjoy our first impressions along with us! This has also kept us honest that if we want to try a soap we order from the artisans directly so we can show you the packaging and unboxing experience as well. It helps inspire and motivate us to get recording so we can open the soaps we are most excited about trying. 

We are learning a lot behind the scenes about editing videos, and how the YouTube/Social Media side works along with how to plan out our episodes and recording schedules. Honestly it’s been nice to have something to share from the start. We both have our own businesses that we started during covid and work virtually from home, we know so much about our lines of work it’s been nice to have to learn something new and out of our normal wheelhouse. The added bonus of getting to have an adventure to build together has been super fun, we promised ourselves we would only do these as long as we are having fun and our fun meter was NOT expecting it to be this full already!! 

Thanks for joining us on this wild ride! We are finding new things to add to our episodes as we record each one, whether it’s on the editing side of things or fun ways to get to know us better but we would also love to know if there is anything specific you want us to include going forward or any vendors we haven’t found yet you’d like us to review. We are only sticking to the actual shave soaps since that’s what got us inspired in the first place so no shaving or hardware reviews for us. Stay tuned for which episodes launch this weekend!!
